Despite the clear contradiction, there's a privileged place in contemporary culture for artistic practices that rely on early electronics and obsolete technologies. Claudio Rocchetti is clearly a proficient operator of both as his musical production centres on the resurrection and manipulation of magnetic tapes, rare records and customized gramophones. Although the slam dance moves and straight edge X's are far-gone, Rocchetti maintains the same raw DIY attitude that characterizes the hardcore scene, while advancing into his drone and textural sonic deviations. Such detours have produced a series of albums, from a variety of monikers and collaborations over the past few years. Recently, the musician made the playlist of The Wire's slot at Resonance FM, as Frances Morgan picked an untitled track from his "Three Quarter Tone Piano Pieces", the result of yet another collaboration, this time with Pietro Riparbelli, released on Cassauna. Claudio Rocchetti presents himself for a live act at Sismógrafo, Porto.
