Comprising five new pieces – two films, a hologram and two photographs – the exhibition "Walled" by Pedro Huet is structured around the theme of artificial paradises. In the works presented we can detect the artist's desire to reveal the mutations that, at least since Baudelaire, this motif, the illicit consumption, has suffered. Focusing his research in the dialectical relations between nature and technology, Huet builds a narrative crossed by images of an everyday life lived more and more in the dependency on multiple screens, in which he attends a virtual war, paradoxically invisible, between those who take control of the new information media and those who, in trying to escape this alienation or intensifying it in an extreme way, propose other existential possibilities.
Pedro Huet (Porto, 1993) lives and works in Porto. He has a degree in Fine Arts – Multimedia from the Faculty of Fine Arts – University of Porto. He studied Video and Video Installation at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts. He began exhibiting his work in 2012, including the exhibitions “infinite distortion”, in January 2015 or “Saudação”, at Vésta space in June 2015. He is a founder, along with Hugo Oliveira, João Pedro Trindade and Rafael Silva, of Nartece, an independente space dedicated to the visual arts.
