"Room or Loom" brings together works by Ana Gonçalves and Sofia Magalhães. Textiles and ceramics that dialogue and monologue in a device conceived by Thierry Simões. The exhibition, curated by Óscar Faria, gathers two of the oldest human technologies, essential for the protection and nourishment of the body which have been, over the centuries, able to reinvent its aesthetic dimension. The fragility of the materials, which may reveal their precariousness or imperfection, is also the subject of a show composed by objects that may have a family lineage or a conceptual motivation. There are several moments and characters that will go through the rooms of Sismógrafo: from the middle ages – John the first loudel – to Japanese pottery, from Seth Sieglaub to Edmund de Waal, from the Bauhaus to Black Mountain College, from António Arroio to ar.co, from Anni Albers to Lucie Rie. Stories of deers and thread balls, which are weaved and unweaved, in a collage of senses that are multiplying in all directions, accepting all failures, all errors, all lives.
