MARIA MANUELA RESTIVOEthnofiction workshop

Following the exhibition Meio-ermo, by Alexandre Delmar, Maria Manuela Restivo proposes a workshop that seeks to explore the universe of ethnofiction, a genre that mixes ethnographic research and artistic and/or literary creation. The activity begins with a guided tour of the exhibition and a presentation of works that can be classified as ethnofiction. From this exchange, participants are invited, in pairs, to work on wrinting, drawing, and modelling exercises, creating scripts, images, or small objects combining anthropology and artistic practice. The focus is on the creative experience and the process of exploration, as cultural elements are transformed into new fictional narratives.

Maria Manuela Restivo is an anthropologist, researcher and professor. She researches, exhibits, and publishes around popular and vernacular artistic practices, editing the books livros do alhures and the project Arte Popular de Ana a Zé. She is currently an integrated researcher at the Centro em Rede de Investigação em Antropologia - Universidade do Minho.
