ANTICOLONIAL CHILDREN’S TRAVELLING LIBRARY

Activities
13 Sep – 31 Oct 2025

Activation dates to be announced.

In the context of the exhibition Prototypes of instituting desire, Sismógrafo's public program proposes the construction of a children’s anti-colonial travelling library, following the prototype "FIU", developed by the editing guild of Santa Mònica Art Center (Antonis Antoniou, Verónica Lahitte, Carla Lupa and Mercedes Saya Rosés Fujiwara). This mobile structure seeks to integrate books and publications that challenge hegemonic, Euro-centric, and colonial narratives. In order to create moments of encounter and reflection on these themes, the library will be activated in three different contexts: in a primary school, in a nursing home, and in a public space.

Las Mòniques are artists-in-residence at the Santa Mònica Art Centre who experiment in the relational or participatory sphere in a collective and transdisciplinary way, organized into seven guilds: communication, digitalization, editing, education, spaces, gastronomy and participation. Selected annually by public call, they develop prototypes of artistic mediation devices to open up the centre’s content, discourses and questions to diverse audiences.
